NFL Touchdown Tips: Waddling into 2022

It's the penultimate week of the NFL regular season and the SRD team look to start the new year with a 50/1 treble

To use Sir Alex Ferguson’s phrase, it’s squeaky bum time for a lot of NFL teams this weekend in terms of making the play-offs. Two of our selections are for teams in the hunt and will be desperate for wins.

Miami Dolphins @ Tennessee Titans

Jaylen Waddle is one of the leagues top performers over the past 4 games. Tua’s return at QB has seen Waddle return to early season form. Averaging 9 receptions and 96 yards in those 4 games plus 2 touchdowns, the Tua-Waddle axis looks to have another prime matchup against the Titans. The Titans are still ranked 2nd in the AFC behind the Chiefs but are ranked 25th overall for passing yards allowed. Yards don’t always translate to touchdowns but they are a great starting point for wide receivers. Waddle at 12/5 with Bet365 (6/4 generally) looks outstanding value.

LA Rams @ Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens secondary has been decimated by injuries in recent weeks and look to be without star QB Lamar Jackson for yet another game. The issues in the secondary were ruthlessly exposed by the Bengals and Joe Burrow last week – the Cincinnati QB putting up a total of 525 passing yards. There’ll be no rest for the Ravens as Matthew Stafford and the Rams offence comes to town. Cooper Kupp’s price is too small to bet, so the much maligned Odell Beckham who has scored 4 touchdowns in his first 6 games with the Rams is the preferred option. This looks an ideal opportunity to add to that. The 13/8 with BoyleSports might not look like value on first glance but on recent form his price should mirror the 8/11 on offer about Kupp.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Football Team

Both teams are still in the hunt in the NFC, even though for the 6-9 Washington side it’s going to take a few things to go their way to make the play-offs. This is a win or bust game for the Football Team. The Eagles have been the joint worst team in the league (tied with the Chargers) for conceding touchdown’s to opposition tight ends. Last week’s blowout loss is best forgotten in terms of stats for the home side, it’s the game beforehand that interests us here. It was the reverse fixture and tight end Ricky Seals-Jones had 7 targets in that fixture. Backup QB Garrett Gilbert played on that occasion but the team from DC will have their main man Taylor Heinicke back under centre on Sunday. With Darius Slay shadowing Terry McLaurin, Seals-Jones should get enough targets to suggest 5-1 with Bet365 is over priced.
