NFL Touchdown Tips: I’ve Got A Pocket Of Pretty Green

Gaz takes a look at the best player prop bets as week 5 of the NFL comes to London.

The NFL comes to London this weekend and I’m absolutely pumped for it. Although the Jets and Falcons are both teams with losing records, that doesn’t matter. It’s just great to be finally back at a live football game once more. Let’s hope we can make the day more special by landing some “pretty green“.

New York Jets @ Atlanta Falcons

Coincidentally my first fancy comes in the London game. This is an added bonus and I’ll be going wild if (when) it lands. The player I fancy here is the Falcons rookie TE Kyle Pitts who has settled into the NFL very well. Pitts is versatile and looks more like a wide receiver than a tight end. He’s sure to benefit from playing alongside an experienced pro like Hayden Hurst and I think Sunday is his time to shine. Pitts has been targeted regularly by veteran QB Matt Ryan and to me that shows a lot of trust. Ryan threw the ball in Pitts direction on nine occasions last week against Washington. Three of those nine targets came in the RedZone, the highest number of RedZone targets Pitts has had this season. With Calvin Ridley not travelling to London due the personal reasons, the RedZone looks should continue for the rookie, and I think he’ll bag his first NFL TD against the Jets.

Green Bay Packers @ Cincinnati Bengals

I’m really looking forward to this game and I think it could end up being one of the most entertaining games of the weekend. Both teams have explosive offenses and if they get rolling early it could be a shootout. I mentioned in our live stream on Friday that I think the Bengals are coming into this game slightly underrated. I think they’re a team that rise to the occasion when playing better teams and I think they’ll be a tough nut for the packers to crack.

If you’re a regular reader of this column you’ll know that I’ve tipped Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase to score on two occasions this season, and both times he’s landed the odds. He’s going to be my bet again this week. While Chase failed to bag a TD last week against the Jags he was targeted nine times, his highest number of targets so far this season. He’s lightening quick, and with Packer CB Jaire Alexander out injured, he should have a big game on Sunday.

San Francisco 49ers @ Arizona Cardinals

On paper this is the game of the weekend. The NFC West looks to be the most competitive division in the NFL and it would be no surprise to see one of the teams from that division lift the Lombardi Trophy in February. The 49ers had high hopes this season after their injury ravaged campaign last year. Unfortunately for my fellow Niners fans the injuries are starting to mount again. On Offense QB Jimmy Garoppolo is definitely out while star TE George Kittle is doubtful. That means rookie QB Trey Lance will be handed the reigns in what will be a real acid test.

The Cardinals are the only unbeaten team left in the NFL and will fancy themselves to continue that record. They’ve been explosive on offense, racking up points at will. DeAndre Hopkins is QB Kyler Murrays star man, but I see value in another Cardinals WR. A.J Green has recaptured the form of old this season and seems to be sneaking in under the radar. Green leads the Cardinals in receiving yards and has been targeted 24 times in the first four games (just one target less than Hopkins). He’s bagged two TD’s already this season and should improve on that record against the Niners.
