NFL Touchdown Tips: Bettors Redemption With This 37/1 Treble

Like most NFL bettors we're on a retrieval mission after a dissappointing Week 9 but this 37/1 treble looks like it could boost our betting banks.

Week 9 of the NFL season turned into a bit of a bloodbath for most bettors. A number of strange results meant that it was difficult to make a profit, and like most punters I was left scratching my head at how I got things so wrong. The joy of betting is that there’s always another play to be had and I’m hoping I can redeem myself with this tasty treble.

Buffalo Bill @ New York Jets

A Bills player has featured in this column in each of the last two weeks and unfortunately neither of those bets landed. The Buffalo offense has looked a shadow of it’s former self and it’s concerning that they only put 6 points on the board against the Jags last weekend. That said, they simply have too much talent for the attacking woes to continue. They face a Jets defense ranked last in the NFL in total defense, and this looks like an ideal game to get back on track. Tight End Dawson Knox returns from a hand injury and he’ll be a welcome addition. The price of 9/4 for Knox to get into the endzone is tempting, but there’s obvious risks attached (rustiness/injury reoccurrence). With that in mind I’m taking QB Josh Allen to score at a pretty decent price of 7/5. Allen has the wheels to cause most defenses trouble and this match-up looks ideal. Zach Moss looks set to miss the game through injury which will put more of an onus of Allen. He’s a player that thrives under pressure and I’ll be very disappointed if this bet doesn’t land.

Detroit Lions @ Pittsburgh Steelers

The winless Detroit Lions travel to Pittsburgh on Sunday to face a dogged Steelers side. To their credit the Lions have shown a lot of heart this season, particularly in their fightback against the 49ers and their trick play inspired start versus the Rams. They simply don’t have the players though and the continued losses look to be having an impact on confidence. As proven last week, the NFL can throw up surprises but this looks like a tough game for Detroit. The Steelers haven’t been brilliant, but they’re picking up the “W’s” and that’s all that matters at this stage of the season. I’ve mentioned a few times that I think the Pittsburgh offense has lots of potential, but they haven’t really had a breakout game as of yet. They aren’t going to get a much better chance to show their talent than against this Lions defense. Detroit give up an average of 30.5 points per game and are pretty poor on both sides of the ball. Steelers Tight End Pat Freiermuth has been emerging as a favourite of Big Ben and he’s my fancy here. Freiermuth has had a good season overall, but his last three games have been standout. He’s had at least 6 targets in each of those matches and bagged himself 3 touchdowns in the process (including a brace last week). With that in mind the price of 2/1 is too good to turn down.

New Orleans Saints @ Tennessee Titans

The Saints are one of the most unpredictable teams in the NFL in my opinion. They can be brilliant like they were against the Packers in week 1 or they can throw in a clanger like last weekend when losing to the Falcons. Injuries are piling up, particularly on offense and they look like a team on a downward spiral. The Titans have been grinding out results and their form now has a very good look to it. With the news that Alvin Kamara is absent for New Orleans, it looks a safe bet to side with the Titans in this one. There’s a number of Tennessee players that stick out. If Julio Jones can play (Questionable) his price of 11/4 is tempting. Better value in my opinion is Nick Westbrook-Ikhine who has been an underrated cog in the Titans offense. He’s bagged 2 TD’s already this season and the price of 5/1 to get another here is way too big. The Saints defense is ranked 30th against the pass so he should get redzone chances.
