NFL Touchdown Tips: All Hail King Henry
Gaz takes a look at the best player prop bet for week 4 of the NFL season and fancies this juicy 30/1 treble.
The less said about last weeks’ touchdown tips the better. None of the selections really got close which was dissappointing. Overall the site is still on profit for the NFL season so lets hope last week was an anomaly.
Tennessee Titans @ New York Jets
An injury depleted Titans head to New Jersey to take on the Jets on Sunday. Star wide receivers A.J. Brown and Julio Jones miss this game, but even with those players missing it’s hard to see the Jets having enough to win this game. Offensively the Jets have been atrocious and that has been the main reason for their bad start. Zach Wilson has struggled to adapt to NFL life as shown by his 7 interceptions through 3 games. He hasn’t been helped by his offensive line a point highlighted by the fact he’s been sacked 15 times. Defensively the Jets have been competent without being brilliant but they face a tough task against the Titans.
My bet here is Derrick Henry to score 2+ touchdowns. Henry is the elite running back in the NFL and given the issues at wide receiver, he’s likely to see an uptick in carries. All of Henry’s TD’s (3) this season came in week 2 versus the Seahawks and he’ll be hungry to rack up some more in this game. The Jets defense is going to have to spend a lot of time on the field and they’ll surely tire, which will play into Henry’s hands.
Carolina Panthers @ Dallas Cowboys
This game features another team that’s been rocked by injury news. The Panthers spent the majority of last season without star running back Christian McCaffrey and unfortunately he’s injured again. Thankfully this injury isn’t as serious as last term and he’ll be back for the business end of the season. Given that injury news I think the Panthers have been underrated by some, but I don’t think they’re a one man team. This is Sam Darnold’s chance to prove himself in my opinion. He’s experienced years at the Jets where he could deflect the blame poor performances on a dysfunctional franchise. He’s also experienced getting little or no credit for a 3-0 start, with McCaffery taking most of the plaudits. This is his chance to stand up and be counted and show he’s a top QB.
The Panthers still offer a significant threat on offense and they’ll need a big performance from D.J. Moore. I think Darnold will reach for the safety blanket of Robby Anderson though, and my bet here is Anderson to score anytime. These two had a good connection when at the Jets and they’ve linked up well in the opening weeks. The Cowboys pass defense has been shocking and they’re currently ranked second last (31st) in the NFL for yards allowed through the air (average 331.7). In a way the McCaffery injury could work in the Panthers favour and I think Anderson will have a big day.
Houston Texans @ Buffalo Bills
After their lacklustre performance in Week 1 I was worried that the Bills might have a bad season. The last two weeks have put any thoughts of that to bed as they been very impressive. Offensively they’ve racked up 78 points in those two games and Josh Allen looks back to his best. Defensively they’ve been solid and the Week 2 shut out of Miami was exceptional. With that in mind it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the Texans could struggle in this game.
My bet here is Emmanuel Sanders to score anytime. Sanders has been well travelled in recent years moving from the Broncos to the 49ers to the Saints and now landing at the Bills. That merry-go-round hasn’t been because of his talent, which is undoubted. Sanders kickstarted his Bills career last week racking up 94 yards off 5 receptions while bagging 2 TD’s. He’ll be an important asset for Josh Allen as the season progresses and Sean McDermott will want to build that rapport. Up against a Texans side who allow lots of points (average 25.3), and who aren’t great at defending against the pass (ranked 23rd), this look like a good opportunity for Sanders to add to his TD numbers.
Tennessee Titans @ New York Jets – Derrick Henry 2+ Touchdowns (11/4)
Caroline Panthers @ Dallas Cowboys – Robby Anderson Anytime TD (15/8)
Houston Texans @ Buffalo Bills – Emmanuel Sanders Anytime TD (15/8)
Above in a treble 30/1
