NFL Playoff Tips: Can The Niners Send Green Bay Packing?

Gaz takes a look at Saturday's action from the NFL Playoffs and fancies this 67/1 bet-builder

The NFL Playoffs are really heating up with some blockbuster games in store over the weekend. Some of the Wildcard matches were a wash out but on paper these games should be a real treat. Here’s hoping we can land some cash to add to the excitement.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Tennessee Titans

The Bengals dispatched the Raiders last weekend and although things got nervy at stages, for the most part it was quite comfortable. Joe Burrow put in another impressive performance and the future looks bright for Bengals fans. This is a tough ask on the road against a solid Titans defense but one thing’s for sure, Cincy will go down swinging. Burrow couldn’t click on the big plays to JaMarr Chase and Tee Higgins versus the Raiders and I feel he’ll need to do that if the Bengals are to pull off a surprise victory. One connection that did click was the QB’s link up with TE C.J. Uzomah and he looks a big price at 7/2 to land another TD.

The Titans are built around the run and having Derrick Henry back is a massive positive. The Bengals will know that if they are to have any chance they need to somehow limit the 1-2 combo of Henry and D’Onta Foreman. That should provide opportunities for the Titans receivers and the angle I like is Nick Westbrook-Ikhine over 28.5 receiving yards. Westbrook-Ikhine ended the season with a 78 yard and 1 TD performance against the Texans and while he probably won’t reach those numbers here, he should have enough targets to comfortably beat the target set by the bookmakers.

San Francisco 49ers @ Green Bay Packers

For me this is the game of the weekend and that’s not because I’m a Niners fan. These two franchises are steeped in tradition and I think this will be an absolute cracker. This is a free hit for Kyle Shanahan and his men and that makes them dangerous. They’re 2/1 on the moneyline and I have to be honest that price really tempts. The news that Nick Bosa has cleared concussion protocol is massive and there’s no doubting this 49ers defense has the ability to cause Green Bay problems.

If San Fran are to pull off a shock not only do they need big defensive plays, they’ll also need to run the ball effectively. Deebo Samuel has been unstoppable this season and terrorised the Cowboys last weekend. It’s the more conventional RB that interests me from a betting perspective though. Rookie Elijah Mitchell rushed for 96 yards and 1 TD in his first ever Playoff game and he should be set to match those numbers here. With QB Jimmy Garoppolo still suffering from injury and with all eyes on Deebo, the 49ers could need to lean on the rookie to bag a famous road win. Mitchell is 13/10 to score anytime and that looks like a decent bet. In the air I like Juaun Jennings to beat his receiving target of 26.5 yards. Jennings has been seeing regular targets and is building trust with Garoppolo as each games passes.

All of the pressure is on the Packers but they have one of the best in the business under centre. Aaron Rodgers grew up a Niners fan but that won’t stand for much on Saturday. Even in the cold conditions Rodgers will spray the ball around and that brings me to my final bet. Alan Lazard ended the regular season with two 70+ yard games bagging 3 TD’s in the processes. His receiving over here is 40.5 yards and I can’t not have a punt off that. If this 49ers’ defense has a weakness it’s in the secondary and Lazard could benefit from that.
