Enzo’s Insights: Atalanta To Triumph In Turin

Enzo gives his insights on the weekend's Serie A action and he fancies a spot of bother for Juventus when they take on Atalanta in Turin

Empoli v Fiorentina – Sat 27 Nov 14:00 GMT

Fiorentina ended Milan’s unbeaten run in a thrilling encounter at the Franchi on Sunday evening. A Vlahovic brace helped La Viola to well deserved 4-3 win which now puts them just one point outside the European places. It was a game which I got completely wrong but the case I made still holds true and applies again this week. To summarise it, Fiorentina make light work of the teams below them in the table.

Empoli are one of these strange sides who perform better on the road than at home. Their form at the Stadio Carlo Castellani (W1 D1 L5) makes for pretty grim reading. Empoli’s only points came from a win against Bologna and a stalemate with Genoa.

Fiorentina’s away record (W3 D0 L4)  doesn’t look great on paper but 3 of their losses have been against Roma, Lazio and Juve. After such a fantastic victory at the weekend, La Viola should be high on confidence and lets face it, Empoli are no AC Milan. A Fiorentina Win @ 11/10 looks like a solid bet.

Sampdoria v Verona – Sat 27 Nov 14:00 GMT

Giovanni Simeone took a break from rattling the net on Monday evening after an incredible run of 7 goals in 4 games. Cholito currently has 9 for the season and is just one behind Vlahovic and Immobile in the capocannoniere standings. This Saturday he will face a Sampdoria side that has conceded at least one goal in 7 of their last 8 fixtures. Of those, their only clean sheet came against bottom club Salernitana. Giovanni Simeone Anytime Scorer @ 15/8 looks like a total bargain and I will definitely be on him.

Juventus v Atalanta – Sat 27 Nov 17:00 GMT

Juventus continued their mini comeback after two embarrassing defeats by beating Lazio 2-0 at the Olimpico. It took a Bonucci brace from the spot to overcome the Aquilotti in what was a fairly poor showing by both sides. Juve then went on to be humiliated 4-0 by Chelsea in the Champions League which will undoubtedly set them back again.

It was midweek disappointment too for Atalanta who could only scrape a draw with Young Boys which leaves their chances of progression in jeopardy. However, La Dea’s recent league form (W4 D2 L0) has been strong with their away record being particularly impressive. Atalanta are still unbeaten (W5 D1 L0) on the road, granted Inter are the only team of stature they have faced, but to hold the Nerazzurri at the San Siro is not to be sniffed at.

I had high hopes for Juventus this season but they actually seem to have regressed under Allegri. As well as this, in some of the big games they have won, a large helping of fortune was involved. Even at home (W3 D1 L2) they have been uninspiring so an Atalanta Win @ 12/5 is a big enough price to make it worth taking a chance on, especially when it is for a side who have the potential to be so explosive.
