Enzo’s Insights: All Aboard the Genoa Goal Express to Wongaville
Enzo is predicting another goal heavy weekend in Serie A along with a tough test for the league leaders
Salernitana v Genoa Sat 2 Oct 14:00 BST
Last weekend I backed Genoa’s clash with Verona to see over 2.5 goals at a bafflingly generous price. The game was an absolute belter culminating in a 3-3 draw. This Saturday I will be staying aboard the Genoa goal express direct to Wongaville and backing over 2.5 @ 11/10 again. No onerous explanation for the bet is necessary suffice to say that every one of the Grifoni’s matches have exceeded 3 goals this season. Long may it continue!
Bologna v Lazio Sun 3 Oct 11:30 BST
After a scintillating start to their Serie A campaign, Lazio have begun to fade slightly. A three game winless run ended on Sunday with a thrilling victory over rivals Roma in the Derby della Capitale. The Aquilotti eventually emerged 3-2 winners but had to soak up huge amounts of pressure and were it not for some clinical finishing and counter attacking brilliance the result could have been very different.
Bologna too have hit a rough patch following a promising beginning. Mihajlović’s team have only managed to pick up a single point from a possible 9 available. In the process they were pummeled 6-1 by Inter and humbled 4-2 by an average Empoli.
I’m going to go with a simple Lazio win here @ 23/20. Their derby antics coupled with a straightforward 2-0 Europa League win midweek should have done wonders for their mojo. I am a little concerned about fatigue but they are a far better side than Bologna who look to be in somewhat of a rut.
Verona v Spezia Sun 3 Oct 14:00 BST
On paper this match should be another goalarama. In 5 of Verona’s 6 games, Over 2.5 + BTTS was a winning selection. Coincidentally, the exact same stat applies to Spezia so backing Over 2.5 goals + BTTS @ 21/20 looks like a steal. Again, no further justification needed.
Fiorentina v Napoli Sun 3 Oct 17:00 BST
League leaders Napoli have been in sensational domestic form of late (W5 D0 L0). However, every streak must come to an end and If anyone can put a stop to their gallop it’s Vincenzo Italiano’s Fiorentina. La Viola are also pretty hot right now (W4 D0 L1) with their only loss coming against Inter. The Tuscans have a lovely blend of youth and experience, and Italiano seems to have found the perfect balance between the two. Veterans like Jack Bonaventura and Jose Callejon have been combining really well with the more inexperienced team members such as Milenkovic and Gaetano Castrovilli. The driving force behind Fiorentina’s success though is in-demand striker Dusan Vlahovic. The big Serb has 4 goals to his name and is a very tempting 23/10 to get his 5th of the season here.
This would be a tough fixture for Napoli at the best of times but it will be made all the more so by the fact that the Partenopei are emerging from a very dense run of fixtures. It will be their 5th game in 13 days which included away trips to Leicester and Udine plus a visit from Juve, so the Napoli juggernaut could be running on fumes come Sunday. Because of this, I think Fiorentina will get a result but the win might be a bit of a stretch. Instead I will be backing a draw @ 11/4.
Salernitana v Genoa: Over 2.5 goals @ 11/10
Bologna v Lazio: Lazio Win @ 23/20
Verona v Spezia: Over 2.5 goals + BTTS @ 21/20
Fiorentina v Napoli: Draw @ 11/4
