Enzo’s Insights: A Tough Teatime Test for Atalanta
Midweek Serie A is upon us and Enzo thinks Atalanta will have a fight on their hands as they welcome the Venetians to Bergamo
Atalanta v Venezia Tues 30 Nov 17:30 BST
Lately there have been signs that Venezia may not be the no-hopers everyone labelled them as at the beginning of the campaign. The side that were pre-season favourites for relegation have picked up 7 points from a possible 12 and are now 5 clear of the dropzone. Venezia might not be the prettiest team to watch but they are hard to beat and do not give away many chances especially away from the lagoon. Only 38% of their their away games have seen over 2.5 goals scored.
Despite my loathing for this market, I will be backing Under 2.5 goals @ 7/4. This might seem like a slightly risky call considering it is an Atalanta game but I feel the price merits it. La Dea have not been great in Bergamo (W2 D3 L2) and have struggled to break down defensively minded opponents who do not facilitate their counter-attacking brilliance. Ultimately I fancy them to come out victorious but not without a struggle so I will also put a small stake on Draw/Atalanta @ 7/2 in the Ht/Ft results market. Of Venezia’s eight away games, five have been deadlocked at halftime including both 2-0 losses to Napoli and Milan.
Salernitana v Juventus Tues 30 Nov 19:45 BST
Salernitana snatched a valuable point on Friday evening thanks to an injury time Bonazzoli strike. However, the southerners still remain rooted to the foot of the table on 8 points. Since Stefano Colantuono replaced Fabrizio Castori in mid October he has succeeded in making the side more defensively solid but this has come at the expense of goals. Salernitana have only managed to find the net three times in their last five attempts, two of which came against Venezia. They are also yet to score against a team inside the top 8.
Sunday’s loss at home to Atalanta was a bitter blow for Juventus and was the first time since 1989 that the Bianconeri lost to La Dea in Turin. Tomorrow’s opponents are not of the same calibre and this should be an easy win for Juve. A price of 1/3 represents no value so instead I’m going for Juventus to win to nil @ 13/10. Salernitana’s attack shouldn’t pose much of a threat to a defence marshalled by Bonucci and De Ligt.
Salernitana v Juventus: Juventus to win to nil @ 13/10
Atalanta v Venezia: Under 2.5 goals @ 7/4
