Beano’s Bet Builder: Ravens Defense Too Strong For Colts
Fresh from a visit to London to take in the Jets versus Falcons, Beano is back with his best bets for Monday Night Football and he thinks Lamar Jackson and Ravens will bag their fourth straight win.
Week 5 concludes with an AFC clash as the Colts travel to Baltimore to face a resurgent Ravens side. It looks a very interesting contest on paper. The Ravens are going for 4 wins in a row, while the Colts are hoping to build on their road win in Miami last week.
Personnel wise the Colts aren’t one of the worst teams in the league right now, but they are playing like it. Things are unlikely to get any better when they take on the Ravens on MNF. Indianapolis’ offensive line has been a mess without Quenton Nelson and Braden Smith and they’ve already given up a double-digit tally of sacks on the season.
They haven’t been great at opening holes for running back Jonathan Taylor either. Those struggles are likely to continue when they face Baltimore’s ferocious defensive front.
The Ravens don’t boast the same defense they had in the Ray Lewis era but they are still very good. They rank 12th in total defense and put on a demonstration of their talents against the Denver Broncos in Week Four. They held Denver to seven points and, apart from a monster 31-yard run by Javonte Williams, they shut down the Broncos completely.
It marked the second week in a row that the Ravens were able to lock down an offence, although the first came against the struggling Detroit Lions. With the Colts hardly lighting up the NFL on offence (currently ranked 26th in total offence) this should be another week of holding an opponent to under 20 points.
If that happens, the Ravens can cover a -6.5 point spread at home under the Monday night lights. Lemar Jackson looks set to have good night in the run game and I think he’ll find his way into the endzone.
