Beano’s Bet Builder: Harris To Return With A Bang

Can the Patriots make it 5 wins in a row against an inconsistent Falcons side on Thursday Night Football?

Thursday Night Football sees a rematch of Super Bowl LI as the New England Patriots head to Atlanta to take on the Falcons. The Patriots are red-hot right now seeking their 5th straight win and currently just half a game behind the Bills in the AFC East. The Falcons on the other hand have been inconsistent and need to bounce back from 43-3 loss at the hands of the Cowboys.

New England Patriots

Although they ran up a score last week in their 45-7 demolition of the Browns, the key to Patriots recent success has been due to their defense. New England have kept three of their last four opponents to 13 points or fewer and have allowed just five rushing touchdowns in ten games. The Pats have also allowed the seventh-fewest passing yards per attempt. Their offense has improved with the O-line much better than what we saw earlier in the season. That has benefited rookie QB Mac Jones who is progressing nicely under Josh McDaniel’s tutelage.

Atlanta Falcons

The stats and performances by the Patriots defense is bad news for Matt Ryan. He needs to bounce back from his horror show against the Cowboys. Apart from Kyle Pitts and Cordarelle Patterson, the Falcons are lacking in offensive production. In reality it’s hard to see how they can keep the chains moving against this Patriots defense. They are still missing elite WR Calvin Ridley with his targets being shared out between Russell Gage and Olamide Zaccheaus.

Too many times we’ve expected big things from the Falcons only to be let down. With that in mind I’m siding with the more trustworthy Patriots to win and cover 6.5 spread. Damien Harris is back for the Pats tonight and I expect him to have a good night in the run game. Given the Patriots mean defense, Harris should have plenty of time on the field and he looks a good bet to find the endzone. Hunter Henry seems to be becoming a very popular player for rookie Jones. His receiving yards target looks low and that rounds out a nice 7/1 bet builder.
