Beano’s Bet Builder: Bucs To Edge A Low Scoring Affair

Tom Brady could be frustrated by a Philly defense that has allowed the fourth-fewest passing yards per attempt this season

Thursday Night Football features an intriguing battle between the Super Bowl champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are coming off what some may call a shock result in Carolina last weekend, while the Bucs offense got back into their attacking groove at home against a struggling Dolphins team.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles earned a big win on the road at Carolina at the weekend and they can keep things close in front of their home crowd at Lincoln Financial Field. Jalen Hurts has been building a solid rapport with DeVonta Smith through the air. That pair have the ability to cause the Bucs depleted secondary some big problems.

Tampa Bay has allowed the third-most passing touchdowns this season and the most passing yards. They’ll be wary of a Philly offense that racked up 30 points against the Chiefs in Week 4.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs were crushed by the Rams in Week 3 and more recently relied on late field-goal drama to get past the Patriots. That raucous New England crowd clearly had an effect on Tampa and Brady in particular. The Eagles fans should be just as loud under the Thursday Night Football lights.

Aside from that Dolphins win last week, the Bucs have struggled to put teams away. Tom Brady could be frustrated by a Philly defense who have allowed the fourth-fewest passing yards per attempt this season. It’s worth noting that the Bucs are 1-7 against the spread in their last eight Thursday night games. The Eagles could extend that horrendous midweek run if their defense can slow Brady and the Bucs offence down.

The stats might point to this one being a shootout but I have a gut feeling this could be a relatively low scoring affair with both teams cancelling each other out. The Bucs TNF record is concerning, however they should have enough to cover the -6.5 spread in my opinion. To do that they’ll need to lean on their running backs, in particular Leonard Fournette. Fournette bagged his first TD of the season last week, and should get in the EndZone again tonight.
